James Goode “Capital Losses” Collection
Collection
Identifier: P004
The James Goode Collection consists of photocopies of photographs from which selections were made for Goode's Capital Losses: A Cultural History of Washington's Destroyed Buildings, published in 1979. There are more photographs in this draft than were included in the publication. The source for each photograph is included. Copies of photographs, which made up chapters 11 and 13 in Goode's book are missing. Photograph sets not included in the book were those labeled, "Portraits," "Views, City Plans and Maps," "Street Views," and "Miscellaneous Photographs." No specific dates are attributed to the photographs but generally are from the 19th and 20th century; they are arranged numerically by chapter in which they appeared with those not used appearing at the end.
