Marilyn Smithson Hodgson’s School of Dance and Expression Photograph Collection

Scope and Contents The collection consists primarily of photographs of dancers from the school with some dance programs and clippings about the school’s performance recitals. They were all originally in scrapbooks. The photographs depict a wide range of dance costumes and dance styles, including ballet, tap, modern, ethnic, and exotic. National Ballet Records

Scope and Contents The records consist of trustee minutes, programs, advertisements, press releases, clippings, biographical files, promotional materials, and scrapbooks regarding the promotion and administration of the Ballet. The collection also contains musical scores, hanging plots, stage directions, board studies, set designs, videotapes, audiotapes, microforms, and photographs which document its artistic work. The records are arranged into 12 series.

Items from arts organizations appear first arranged alphabetically followed and then general information about the visual arts and artists in Washington. Oversized materials are in a separate box.

Shubert-Garrick-Belasco Theatre Collection

Scope and Contents This collection consists of five bound volumes of financial records from the Shubert Garrick Theatre and the Shubert Belasco Theatre. These records show the expenses and financial reports for various productions from 1918 to 1934.

Washington Area Performing Arts Video Archives (WAPAVA) Collection

Scope and Contents The WAPAVA collection is housed in acid-free boxes and arranged chronologically. The database, however, offers different points of access to the collection. Fields include production title, Theatre/Troupe name, start and end dates, and box number. For the most part, a copy of the original program accompanies WAPAVA titles from each production. WAPAVA productions are available in one of two formats, VHS or DVD. As technologies change, so will the formats that WAPAVA uses.
